Why Choose Us For Birds and Exotics

Avian exam

Cedar Creek Veterinary Clinic not only cares for your cat and dog companions, but for ALL of your family's pets, including your birds, reptiles, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, ferrets and many more! Cedar Creek has three avian doctors: Dr. Wayne Beasley, Dr. Heather Beasley, and Dr. Angela Kosmyna, all members of the AAV (Association of Avian Veterinarians), an organization that promotes advanced avian medicine. Our doctors have many years of experience with birds and exotic animals, and we have provided vet care for Preuss Pets since 1987. Choosing a vet that knows avian and exotic medicine is very important. You should call local pet stores and other veterinarians in the area for a referral. Usually one or two names will come up often if the veterinarian has an established, well-respected practice. Call the clinic you are thinking of visiting and ask how many exotic pets (birds, reptiles, small mammals, fish, etc.) they see per month. This is most critical if they see only a few, as it is difficult for a veterinarian to stay current on avian or medicine if they only treat a small number of these patients. We generally see about five different types of birds in one day!
