It is highly recommended that cats are spayed or neutered by six months of age. Spaying a female cat reduces the risk of reproductive tumors, false pregnancies, and uterine infections. Neutering a male cat reduces the risk of cancer, enlarged and painful prostate, infection of the prostate gland and other health problems, as well as marking territory.
